BloodCOMM Connect

BloodCOMM Connect enables additional connectivity for your BloodCOMM-Enabled Coolers.

BloodCOMM Pro and Premium require your devices to be connected to the internet, to provide online data access, including real-time monitoring and alerts. For devices which do not have internet access, or situations where a cellular connection is unavailable, the Connect is able to bridge the gap.

Each BloodCOMM-enabled device has the ability to record and report temperature data and status. Devices will continue to record when not connected to the internet, but online features will be unavailable.

BloodCOMM Connect
BloodCOMM Connects are android-enabled devices, which provide a seamless connection between BloodCOMM-enabled coolers and the BloodCOMM Cloud. This allows for real-time monitoring and alerts, ensuring that temperature data is always accessible.

Connects allow for devices to be connected to the internet via Cellular or Wi-Fi, support Airplane mode, and give realtime, remote visibility to nearby device statuses.

Note that BloodCOMM Connect devices are an accessory to BloodCOMM. To access BloodCOMM, either download the Android/iOS app or access the web portal at https://blood.dev. Instructions on creating accounts, and utilizing BloodCOMM are available on the rest of this Resource Center website.

Live Sync
Live Sync allows you to receive realtime alerts and notifications from your Delta devices. It also enables augmenting of the on-device temperature records with additional data points (up to 15 minute intervals).

Records Sync

Records Sync allows you to sync historical, on-device data from your Delta devices to BloodCOMM. This will also re-sync data the device has recorded while it was out of range of the BloodCOMM Connect.

How to Use

Your BloodCOMM Connect is a passive device, which requires no user input to function. This means that it is able to be semi-permanently mounted in a variety of locations. However, as it is required to maintain BloodCOMM connectivity for devices, it must be powered on and nearby your coolers at all times.

Since the Connect provides feedback on device status and sync state, recommended options are:

  • Mount the Connect in a location with good cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Using a standard phone mount, affix the Connect in the cab of your vehicle. This serves multiple purposes, allowing for remote monitoring of the cooler temperature, even if the cooler is physically separated from the Connect
  • Apply velcro to the Connect, place the Connect on the cooler's patch or grab the Connect from the vehicle cab while exiting.
  • Transport the Connect alongside cooler during use.
  • While the Connect can sync coolers up to 30 feet away, best practice is to keep the devices within 10 feet of each other for optimal performance.
  • Keep the device powered on at all times.
  • While the Connect can stay on battery for over 16 hours, it is recommended to keep it plugged in to avoid service interruptions.
  • Regularly check the BloodCOMM Connect to ensure cooler temperature and battery, as well as Sync status.
  • Add Wi-Fi networks for locations where the Connect will be frequently located.
  • BloodCOMM Connects are remotely managed, receive automatic updates, and can receive remote support while connected to Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi Networks

The BloodCOMM Connect ships with a pre-configured cellular data plan, however Wi-Fi networks can be added for locations where the Connect will be frequently located. This also allows for continuous syncing in locations with poor cellular coverage, such as parking garages.

To add and manage Wi-Fi networks:
1. Open the settings menu on the Connect.
2. Tap on the Wi-Fi symbol on the bottom right.
3. Use the interface to add and manage networks.

Airplane Mode

Airplane Mode allows you to disable all Cellular communication on the BloodCOMM Connect. To enable Airplane Mode:

1. Open the settings menu on the Connect.
2. Tap on the airplane symbol in the bottom center.
3. Toggle the "Airplane Mode" switch to the ON position.

When Airplane Mode is enabled, the Connect will not be able to communicate via Cellular network. Bluetooth can be turned back on along with Wi-Fi so that devices can continue to sync while in flight.

Battery Life

BloodCOMM Connects ship with a battery limiter enabled, which is intended to prolong battery lifespan. This means that the maximum charge will be restricted to 80% of total capacity. With this limiter in place, the battery should last for a minimum of 16 hours.

It is recommended to keep your connect plugged in at all times (wherever possible) to avoid interruptions in service. The Connect can be charged via any off-the-shelf USB-C adapter from vehicle or wall power.

If operationally an extended battery life is preferred over battery longevity, the battery limiter can be disabled.

To disable the 80% battery limiter, follow the below steps:
1. Open the settings menu on the Connect.
2. Tap on the Battery ##% Button, opening battery settings.
3. Tap on "Battery Protection", then select the amount (Off, Basic, Adaptive, or Maximum [default])
